Not Quite A Home Tour!

Well, here's an unusual property...

Hmmm, what is this place? Not very well-kept, is it?

Oh my! It's not a home at all!

I very much wanted to participate in Julia's very cool home tour, but I never got to any homes this weekend to get any pictures of. And, Lord knows, my house is not tour-worthy yet! However, I did get to see how some folks "on the other side" get to live!

This is the Sacramento Old City Cemetery and it is pretty darn cool! My sister-in-law, Deborah and I took the tour Saturday and I was just so impressed.

Love that patina!

Is this not a gorgeous view?!

Civil War memorial.

One of many very cool crypts.

Awwww....so sweet!

So even though it is not the usual type of "home", it is very pretty isn't it? I can't wait until the end of October when they have their "Lantern Tours"! Don't you think the kids will love that?

Anyway, go visit Hooked on Houses and enjoy the tour!

Bettsi, this "not quite a home tour" cracked me up! Too funny. I really enjoyed your pictures from the Old City Cemetery, though. I've always been kind of fascinated by them--especially the really old headstones.

We lived just a few doors away from a big old cemetery when I was growing up and we spent many summer nights over there as kids, playing "Ghost in the Graveyard." -Julia :-)

Hee.. I think YOU should've used my Beautiful Home song today instead of me, lol!
These old stones are so awesome. I want mine to look like that when I go, instead of a big marble block.

LOL -- while the rest of us are showing temporary homes -- you show us people's final permanent homes!
Old grave yards are fascinating places to wander around. This was great.

Ha! What a great deviation on the tours. I ,also, have been kinda interested in seeing those old gravestones and wondering about the history!

Thanks for the detour...fascinating!

Love that garden finial! lol Only a person who loves homes and decorating could see something in a cemetery and want to take it home with her ;)

Loved the LuLu and Momma and Pappa headstones...and yes, the view is very lovely!

Thanks for sharing, please stop by my open house if you get the chance :)

Hi Bettsi I liked the quirky tour- just finished a Halloween/fall project. I love old fashioned iron railing- they just don't make them like that anymore.

I enjoyed this "home" tour. We like to visit old cemeteries and find them very interesting.

Thanks so much for adding your tour to Julia's!

Hey, this was really cool! I especially loved the Papa and Mama Headstones, so very sweet. Perhaps you'll snap some pics in October to share. I'll vote for that!

As a kid, our neighbors up the street had woods in their backyard. There was a cool trail where we used to play and rather deep into the woods we found 3 VERY old tombs. I loved playing there and what I'd give to go back there for another visit.

Thanks for this "home" tour. Interesting subdivision. At least you know the neighbors are quiet. (Thank you! I'll be here all week, ladies and gentlemen!)

I live across the street from a huge cemetery, but all I see is a big green hill. I got a little creeped out when we had severe flooding a few years ago (steep hill, flooding washing the dirt away, overactive imagination) but otherwise, I don't even think about it.

Seriously, that was great. Thanks!

What a great idea!! I love old cemeteries, so this is awesome to me. My parents called my Lulu so naturally there's one stone in particular I'm drawn to (I'm tempted to print it and hang it up...but I feel like that's tempting fate?!). And that Civil War one is amazing...I've never seen one like it.

Hi Bettsi
Being married to a Civil War buff (and Revolutionary War as well) I see more than my fair share of these sites. I have come to enjoy the solitude of them while hubs is taking photos. One of my favorite is in Charleston. It is beautiful.
